South West

The South West is one of eight key regions featured on The South West region is probably the most well-known part of the English coast having featured in books and films shown all over the world. The cliffs and bays, wide sandy beaches, picturesque harbours and fishing hamlets contribute to a truly spectacular coastline.

The South West Coast Path hugs the coastline and is perfect for walkers of all levels of fitness with plenty of information available on how to access the path in manageable sections. The coastline has excellent facilities for water sports from the world famous surfing beaches of Newquay and North Devon to the sheltered bays and estuaries on the south coast perfect for sailing, canoeing and stand up paddleboarding.

The south west has always been known for its speciality foods including pasties and cream teas but more recently celebrity chefs have helped to grow the regions reputation as a destination for excellent seafood.

The South West region includes the coastlines of the counties of South Devon (west of Exe Estuary), Cornwall, North Devon, Exmoor National Park and Somerset and there is a separate module for each. Choose your home county or if you think you are already an expert then go for an alternative!
